Angela's career in events began during her time in college at Penn State University. While studying Marketing and Sociology, she took a part-time job at the historic Nittany Lion Inn. There, as a banquet bartender, pouring drinks and hoping for a full tip jar, Angela got a behind the scenes peek into the world of events. She learned the art of event day timelines, shaken martinis and manhattans, how to chit-chat with event guests, and exactly when a wedding cake should be sliced.
Angela completed an event internship in Pittsburgh, PA one summer and booked a one-way plane ticket to Honolulu, HI the following year. Her first "real job" was in marketing, events, and communications and it sharpened her skills in every way. Angela was able learn from industry pros and plan events of all sorts, including a month-long visit of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile to Oahu. Eventually becoming the Event Manager on the historic Battleship Missouri in Pearl Harbor, Angela learned how to produce meaningful and large-scale events. As you can imagine there are a gigantic amount of logistical challenges involved with planning an event on a battleship housed on an active military base, with precious teak wood decking, and a fork-lift and a crane available for event load-in. Angela found herself cold and living in Seattle, Washington, thanks to her husband's career path. There she continued the pattern of events in oddly shaped and historic venues. She became the Event Manager at the iconic Space Needle and its next door neighbor, Chihuly Garden and Glass. Three elevators and a glass house don't make for easy event logistics, either! Angela joined the team at Seattle University to plan the school's 125th anniversary weekend-long reunion and events. She worked at the Phinney Neighborhood Association, scheduling rooms and events for the non-profit, until 2020 killed the events industry. That was just what Angela needed to get her own entrepreneurial plans off the ground. She moved back to Honolulu in 2021 and launched Angela White Events in 2022. She is thrilled to be living in Hawaii (again!) and planning events in her own name. It's a life long dream come true. Contact Angela and we will begin planning the event of your dreams. |
